Flavor Trend Highlight: Hibiscus

Welcome back to our flavor of the month blog series! We’ll continue to cover a new trendy flavor each month, hand chosen by the experts from our R&D and marketing teams. For the month of February we have chosen to highlight hibiscus!

The hibiscus flower is native to warm temperate, subtropical, and tropical regions. In the past, it was commonly used in hot and cold teas, imparting a unique tart flavor.

A decade ago the flavor was almost non-existent in the US, but over the past five years, this flavor has experienced a 32.28% CAGR in US product launches. This has led to almost 90 new product launches featuring the flavor in 2019.
