Naturally Occurring Trehalose

TREHA® is high purity trehalose—a naturally occurring sugar that can be found in many common foods, such as mushrooms and yeast. Fermented products including beer and wine also contain trehalose. Because of its natural properties in food, we take in trehalose in our daily lives without thinking about it.

OK Logo JMA Halal

Trehalose has been reviewed by all of the major regulatory agencies in the world and found to be safe for use in foods. Trehalose received a “no questions” letter from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and is approved as a Novel Food in the European Union. The Joint FAO/WHO Expert Committee on Food Additives (JECFA) reviewed trehalose and assigned ”ADI not specified.” TREHA® is certified as Kosher and Halal. It is the customers’ responsibility to determine that the ingredient meets all legal requirements in the countries where it is used, and that it does not infringe on any third party patents. TREHA® is produced for and distributed in the North American market (USA and Canada). TREHA is a trademark of Hayashibara and a registered trademark of Hayashibara in Japan, the U.S. and other countries.
